It was, in fact, Sirius who came to the door. And while there was still a hint left over of his sorry state, it meant quite a lot that he was even bothering to get up and answer the door at all. Three weeks ago, that would have been sodding unthinkable.
"Harry!" he said, surprised, as he opened the door to reveal his wind-swept godson. "It's good to see you."
Oh. Harry bit down on his lower lip, a light flush staining his cheeks. Not his mother and not Remus. He wasn't sure what he was feeling other than uncertainty.
"May I come in?" he asked, dragging his gaze up to meet Sirius'. He missed his godfather, but every time they spoke they seemed to fight, and Harry knew a great part of that was his fault for being so defensive all the time, but it wasn't like Sirius tried very hard either.
"Yeah," Sirius said quickly, also a little unsure but unwilling to fuck this up again. It seemed as though life was hellbent on keeping him on his toes this week, and honestly Sirius was thoroughly expecting himself to do something horrendously stupid at any given moment. "Yeah, of course."
He opened the door wider to indicate that Harry should enter. Somehow, he had to make sure this worked out. He wanted his godson back, so so bloody much.
Harry smiled fleetingly as he ducked around Sirius to enter the house. Some urges never left, Harry suspected as he gazed at Sirius for half a second, reigning in the impulse to fling his arms around the man and hug him tight and fast.
Actually, the only thing stopping him was his own bloody mind.
He could fix this, right now.
Sucking in a sharp breath that rattled in his lungs, Harry wobbled into a hug that wasn't nearly strong enough and on the whole, fairly pathetic.
