Lily had been pacing. Remus was gone. And she'd not been able to get in contact with Lee. She was beginning to worry that two of the people she cared most about had both disappeared. Thank Merlin she'd talked to Harry on the phone just the other day. Mid-pace, her phone rang. Perhaps it was...no, she wouldn't get her hopes up. Taking a breath, she answered the phone calmly. "Hello?" Lily still didn't understand caller id.

"Hey Lily." He said in a chipper manner, moving around and cleaning up after himself while he talked. The cell phones were awesome. They had cordless phones, back on Caprica, but not cell phones. "How are you? And can I talk to my stupid brother after you and I chat?"

"Zak, hi," Lily replied, trying not to sound too deflated. At the second statement, Lily was even more distraught. Lee wasn't with Zak. "I've been better. Er. That would be a bit of a problem, seeing as how Lee's not here. He's not with you?" This was...not good. Not good at all.

"Oh." Stated simply when Lily informed him that Lee wasn't with her. Well, where in the world was he? Zak looked out the window briefly. It was far too late for him to being flying anyone or giving lessons. Maybe he was working on the bird.

"Meet me up at the halfway point and we'll go over to the hangar? You can chew him out first, of course." Zak added the last part with a boyish grin, sounding like he wasn't particularly worried at all.

"I don't-" Lily stopped. There was no harm in looking at the hangar. "I'll meet you there," she finished. It was not as if going there would be a terrible trek. The hangar was close enough from her house, and Zak's for that matter. She shrugged into a jacket as she headed that way. It wasn't that she didn't want Lee to be there. She really did. It was just that this town seemed to enjoy messing with her a little bit too much for Lily's liking.

Zak had done the same, getting his jacket on and heading out the door. The distance between the Adama boys' apartment and the hangar wasn't terribly far at all, so it didn't take him long to come up and meet the redhead currently dating his brother.

"You can have first dibs at giving him grief." He said with a boyish smile, because he wasn't really worried yet. Not completely.

Lily crossed her arms, smiling slightly at Zak. He was so sure that Lee must be at the hangar. Of course, Zak hadn't had anyone disappear on him just yet, had he? Lily'd lost her best friend twice over now, and she knew others had lost people as well.

After all, with as many people as had appeared in town out of nowhere, there must have been people disappearing as well. Maybe not with the same rate.

"Thanks, Zak. When was the last time you saw him, anyway?" Lily asked, voice decidedly calm.

"Last nite, I think." He thought about it, then nodded more firmly. "Last nite. Didn't see him this morning, but he gets an early start on the day sometimes."

No, Zak hadn't had anyone disappear on him. He knew, consciously, that it could happen. But it didn't really ever sink in until it happened, right?

"Yesterday's when I saw him, too," she replied as they neared the hangar. "I met your dad a bit back. Did I ever mention that?" She had to Lee, when they were out to dinner. Lily rung her hands. "I just...sometimes...you know that people do..."

She stopped outside the hangar. "Remus is gone. He's been here before, too, and disappeared. Not intentionally but...people appear here and they do disappear from here, too." Lily just wanted to prepare Zak. Just in case. She'd become much more of a pessimist lately. For a twenty-two year old, she was entirely too cynical.

"No, I didn't know that." He lifted his eyebrows a little, and smiled. "The old man didn't give you too hard a time, did he?" Not that he would. Zak was mostly joking.

He walked with the redheaded witch amicably, but paused when she did. "Remus is gone? Oh Lil, I'm sorry." They had been best friends, after all. And it was a shame. He liked the other young man. Zak had been ready to enter the hangar, but then paused once more and turned to look at her. "You think Lee's gone, too."

Lily let out a small laugh. "Not at all. He was very nice. Met his dog, had coffee and pie." She really liked Bill.

Her smile faded from her face and she answered with a curt nod. "It's...I'll be fine,' she replied evenly. One thing she could do was control her sadness. Rage, she didn't quite have such an easy time with, but this was mostly sadness. "I really hope he's not." That was her answer. And she'd been fiddling with her claddagh ring since she'd realized that it might be the case that he was gone. It was a nervous habit that she'd had since she was younger.

"Good. I was afraid I'd have to have Laura beat him up or something." He was still joking a little, even as he waited for the more serious answers. Zak studied Lily briefly, and then nodded once when she said she'd be fine.

"I hope not too. Maybe they're out flying somewhere or something." He looked up at the sky, which was clearing up with the coming of springtime. Then looked back to Lily and clenched his jaw before motioning that they should check inside.

"Lee?" He called out once they entered, dark eyes taking a good look around. "Leland."

She shook her head, smiling slightly. No, he would not.

"I'm not an expert on planes by any means, but isn't it a bit late to be out with them, without anyone knowing at least?" Lily wanted to be proven wrong. She wanted to be told that in fact, it was completely normal for people to fly planes this late at night. Of course. But she also didn't want to be lied to.

Crossing her arms, she let Zak do the calling. No sense in her voice breaking over it. She scanned the room as well, making certain not to miss any places.

"It is late." He admitted quietly, but he still wanted to keep a little hope. Lee's name was called out a few more times, and Zak made sure not to leave any stone unturned so to speak.

Nothing.

Ten minutes of this and finally the youngest Adama looked back to Lily. Then he stepped closer and placed his hand on her back in a comforting manner. "I'll walk you home." Because there was no one else to do it.

Lily closed her eyes for a moment. She wished she were wrong, oh how Lily had wished she had been wrong.

She took in a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Zak was probably hurting as much (if not much, much more) than she was. "You don't have to, Zak. I can make it back on my own. Are you...okay?" How could he be?

He looked around again, as if hoping that Lee was pulling some stupid ass joke and he could pummel his older brother after learning about it. But no one appeared. No stupid brother with his small grin.

Jerk.

Looking back at Lily, Zak shrugged. "I knew it was going to happen.." He just didn't think now. And not so abruptly. He thought he'd get to say goodbye this time. Then the kid registered that Lily said she could get back on her own. And shook his head. "It's late. Lee'd kick my ass if I let you do that." Reminded with a very small and wry humoured smile.
