Matt whistled to himself a little, looking around. )
Think of Jack as another of River's big brothers.
He kept his smile friendly when he stepped up to the counter. "What does a man have to do to get some service around here?"

And then the Captain walked in. Ianto's smile went a little wider at that and he shrugged, playing at nonchalance. "Oh, I don't know. Depends on the type of service. What can I get you, strange man?"

"Thanks Ianto. 'm settled." She could always drop by his house unannounced for some of his famously delicious teas.

His eyes shifted to the young man, the smile never wavering. And then beyond him to River. He bowed gracefully to her.

"Ah, we're a rude bunch. Jack, that's Matt Farell, only recently a resident. He had been going on about wonderful coffee from a convenience store and River, saint that she is, went about correcting Matt's misconceptions. Matt, this is Captain Jack Harkness who is currently being made a cinnamon machiato, because I think it suits him today."

(( Excuse my inconsistences re: which hand he uses for the cane, haha. It'll be the right hand from now on, because I googled it and figured out the way it should be~ ))

Obvious focus was shifted to Matt's leg. The malicious child in River was tempted to give it a little kick, or perhaps just a mischievous nudge with a toe. Still she had enough manners to restrain herself.
"Jack is Captain-like without being captain-like," she observed, curtsying in response to his bow.

"I am a captain without a ship. Where are you from, Matt?" He pulled his hand away and let it rest at his side.
