Viper pilots knew how to hold their liquor, but even Bill was feeling a little warm as they walked, Laura held close to him. "We should," he said. "I never realised how many people were in this town, until tonight."

"Frank says he should be ready to go in the new year," he said, "but that we could start the paperwork now, if we wanted." He straightened his own coat, thankful that he remembered to bring a scarf as well (which may or may not have been at Laura's urging).

"Housewarming party. That'll be a first." You can't exactly that kind of party on a battlestar, after all. "But I think," he continued, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek, "that I could get used to the idea."

She couldn't help but give a little giggle as she held onto him. "I never thought I'd be getting a cabin. Ever. And now look at us. We need to buy things. Furniture things," she nodded decisively. "How many rooms are there?"

Laura's giggles were always so infectious, Bill couldn't help but laugh with her. "Oh Gods, furniture. I honestly hadn't even thought that far ahead." He looked down at her, affection practically written all over his face. "Whatever would I do without you, Laura?"

"And rooms? Two or three, I think," he said, ticking items off on his fingers. "Master bedroom, guestroom, and study. Plus kitchen, bathroom and laundry, of course," he added. "Frank had it built for him and his ex-wife. No kids. She never liked it in Canada, apparently, so when they split, he got the cabin."

Laura nodded. "So our room, and an office for each of us? That really couldn't be more perfect, could it? I've managed to save just about everything that Severus has paid me, so we can get some necessary things."

She was pointedly trying to ignore the sound of what sounded like a baby kitten mewling. Because they did not need another pet.
