HAPPY COMING OUT DAY!!
My university is now offering a LGBT (Lesbin, Gay, Bi, Transexual) minor, and my honors seminar professor is the frontrunner for this newest degree. He asked (by threatened our grades ;) ) to come and listen to some of the many professors, journalists, and activists speak today. I would have gone anyway, even though I don't plan on minoring in that field. (I have enough on my plate w/ Creative Writing and Audio/Video/Film.)
Anyway, my point is that it pisses me off when ignorant individuals don't see the importance of an area of study like this. It's like saying those who major in Women's Studies are wasting their time as well. Though I may be a straight individual, I have close friends who are not; we should all be more open to new (or rather finally offered) information when it's available.
I should conclude with admitting something many don't know about me, but I'm basically an open book. I guess you can know that I find serial killers fascinating. (And yes, I do realize that this is slightly disturbing.) I even own a book that names the most notorious of these monsters.
And, as another side note, my Honors Creative Writing Workshop loved the recent rough draft I presented yesterday. It made me really happy.
