Musical query

This will probably make some people laugh, but I have a rock question straight out of the indie canon.

On the album Wowee Zowee Pavement have a song called "Father To A Sister Of Thought" that starts out slow with a basic, strummed electric chord progression, then a bit of tinkling piano comes in on the descant.

This particular part of the song, the intro, gives off this incredibly strong odour of something else I've heard before and know really, really well, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. I'm convinced it's so similar to some other track that it could be dubbed over it without discord, but I simply cannot remember. It's driving me batshit insane.

If you have any idea what I'm talking about, please help. I don't want to listen to this intro again - it's not actually an interesting bit of music. Soothing, maybe, but not when you're O.D.-ing trying to work out what it's ripping off / being ripped off by. I don't mind a bit of Pavement but this much? Argh!

EDIT: To add to the frustrations posed to me this morning, the dog just unburdened himself of about a plateload of some undefined bodily waste in the corridor, and I nearly lost half my breakfast while cleaning it up. Fastidious, fastidieux.

memory, music
