I need a subject line to clicky

Still scared of flist because of unfortunate "okay, I checkie, OMG TRIGGER" moment.  Not anyone's fault, I even knew it was happening, I just didn't know it would be at the top of my flist, which is suspicious clearly universe on sneak attack.

Saw commercial for Tigger movie.  For kids, eh?  They were playing the instrumental opening for, wait for ( Read more... )

o.O I remember replying! The world has gone creepy again.

It was Smash. There are so many conflicts inherent in the subject that I could write a crabby paper, and I, being me, loved all the most controversial bits. It did get me to write my first proper chaptered fic. Which, eit! I kinda forgot about, and should really finish.

Well, Adam never was a particularly good fit for Erica romantically, though I think most of us wound up biased there because of the way he was introduced. All season long >_> They do make lovely friends though - now I'm antsy to give The Listener a go, and see what romantic possibilities actually work. (And I finally sussed out that it's on my fav Canadian torrent site, so \o/ )

Blogging for the news? That's incredibly cool XP In a rather ironic way, I guess, unless you want to be a journalist.

What're your bets for the fall? There's one I'm incredibly psyched about, except I can't remember what it is. And I guess everyone has to try Revolution, just 'cuz. And the Sherlock one is made for fandom, if they don't muck it up. Though I suddenly remember Grimm and W13 were on! I have no tv, but mustmust DL!

I was thinking about it, and I did do okay on smallfandomfest the one time I did it - 2.5 fics. I was ~5000+ words into your Rumples/Emma "promise" prompt, when I got Joss'd badly. Again. And gave it up before it drove me nutters.

Ooh, Continuum sounds awesome! Admittedly, I'm particularly curious about the terrorist's role in all this, and whether she's there with them or against them. Canadian torrent site to the rescue! I tried half an episode of Perception and was confused as heck, but then it was the back half and I was reading CC while treadmilling, so not really a fair go.

I keep meaning to pick up anime. It's probably just that I've seen the wrong series (for me, other people seem to do well with them) or just my ability to invest. (So much stuff, so little time!)

Yes, that's right! You were ranting about it. Did Smash get renewed or not? Because I don't think CTV is showing it. At least it got you to write fic?

I agree that Adam would be a better friend for Erica than a boyfriend, but there are better matches for her. Like Ethan. Or Dr. Tom. Or even Kai. (Or Cassidy (sp?), but that's another issue I have with the show...). Yes, watch The Listener! It's really good for the most part (even if they just broke my heart a few episodes back).

Well, I'm hoping Once Upon a Time will keep going strong, despite part of the fanbase turning into rabid shippers. Grimm is going great as well. For Canadian TV, I'm really excited to get to watch Murdock Mysteries, now that it's moving to CBC. And a new (mini-?)series on the building of the Titanic looks really cool. Everything else I'm basically just watching for enjoyment.

Aww, sorry to hear that you got Joss'd on my fic idea. Turn it into an AU? I'm not sure if OuAT will be included in the next round, because the fandom has grown quite a bit.

I did stare at what I had for your Rachel/Dr. Fred fic idea, but I didn't manage to write any more on it.

Continuum is pretty awesome, but I'm not going to tell you anything~ Except that I ship a couple that has basically no hope of ever becoming canon, unless something really weird happens.

Do you remember what series it was? Because anime has a large number of genres in it, so you may have seen something for a genre you don't like. And different series are aimed at different age groups/genders, so that might have played a part too. As well as how old what you saw was - I find it difficult to understand some of the stuff that I've watched that was produced in the 1980's, for example.

Heh! I've been trying to not go into detail about Smash, with people who haven't seen it (or just surface-watch) because it already ate my soul with vicious acid. But I couldn't help letting a little spill out. It was renewed after just a few episodes aired. It was a good move for NBC- or so I thought, until it turned out the show is the spawn of satan and a sociological nightmare to the nth degree.

Now I just think they should start over. (I'm not sure I'm very good at chaptered fic, but it's been an interesting journey XP )

Aw, but all those people have radically different relationships with her, and Adam does have the distinction of going through therapy with her, at least in part, which is a really special dynamic. They got into that more in season 4, if you ignored the dating bit, which I did because it stopped actively bugging me.

I've been marathoning Wonderfalls, and every time Eric comes on I'm like: ETHAN! And then I'm like: Being Eric? I know it's supposed to be an "American" show, but Canadian actors ftw!

Ha! As I type, I got an "update soon." But in their defense, I had been posting weekly, and it's been well over a month. Useful guilt trip, thou hast arrived in my inbox.

For some reason, I've always thought Murdock Mysteries was something like Murder She Wrote, o.O

The Joss'ing went deep. The nature of the baby blanket and Rumpel's history and shop... I think there might be something salvageable from the beginning - not for smallfandomfest though. I did something, and then found out that there had to be actual romance, hence the odyssey into a massive plot that would get there... I need to read instructions more closely, I really do. I did the same thing with my Eureka fic.

I watched quite a bit of Pokemon, Naruto, and Sailor Moon, which are kiddie, but tons of legit mostly-adult people love 'em. I did like the ep of Samurai Champloo, though not enough to seek out more, and some more experimental stuff my prof showed us, and of course I love Spirited Away and the like. Maybe I should check schedules and pop into a meeting of the Anime Club, just so I don't have the excuse of being too lazy to go dig up random stuff.

Oh. Ouch. Sorry to hear that it got renewed then. I'm tempted to start ranting about a certain segment of the Once Upon a Time fanbase myself, but I don't feel like putting myself though hell just to get my facts right. (I remember my first chaptered fic. It's horrible, yet I can't bring myself to take it down from ff.net)

That is very true...although you could also argue that for Dr. Tom, but then again I'm rather biased towards Erica/Dr. Tom., so...I should really buy seasons 1, 3 and 4 of Being Erica sometime, just so I'll have it. So much to buy, somewhat-limited money situation.

Oh, speaking of Being Erica cast, I've spotted two of them in guest appearances in other shows! Sam's actress popped up on both Perception and Saving Hope, making me grin as I compared the three different characters I've seen her as. Brent's actor also appeared on Saving Hope, although it took me a bit to realize it was him. I was all, 'Look, people I recognize! This is awesome :D'

I watched all three at some point and dropped them, although I continued reading the Naruto manga for quite a while before throwing my hands up at the plot and abandoning it. And I still play the Pokemon games. And I *might* watch the new Sailor Moon anime that's coming out next year in Japan. Miyazaki's stuff (who directed Spirited Away) is almost always worth a watch, so I'd recommend any of his films if you want more anime.

You could try C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control for something more think-y, although it is a tad confusing at times. Black Rock Shooter and Ozma (or Ozuma) are also very short series, and Thermae Romae is worth a watch if you're a history fan (although I found the presentation style very different from usual anime stuff. Tiger and Bunny and Pullea Magi Madoka Magica might interest you as well (the former is about superheros and the latter is from the magical girl genre - think Card Captor Sakura but more mature).

The new anime season is starting soon in Japan, so you could always try one of those: typing in 'Fall 2012 Anime Season Chart' will bring up many different links to charts outlining the basic premise of the new series that are starting. Or you could go to your local Anime Club. Which might indeed be easier.

The stupidest thing about Smash is yes, okay, I'll probably watch it at some point and I've got people who'll be telling me if I can, and softening blows, and it would be okay since I haven't got a tv anyway... Except that prior to now, and next year, I WILL have a proper tv, and the adverts for it make me twitch.

I'd say I'd love to hear your OUaT-related rant, but it is better for your mental health to stay away from that. And remain in positive, productive lands! No One benefits from fandom sinkholes, except bottom feeders, and masochists.

Adam/Erica is like DrT/Erica in a way, but I don't think they compete, and the ways in which they seem to overlap only serves to highlight how DrT/Erica jive better. (That whole arc there where Adam=DrT+b kept cropping up.) For me, Erica/Adam are more like siblings, going through the route experience together, like college housemates (like Erica and Ethan in college.) DrT/Erica share the experience, but more globally. Their individual paths through (college) were similar yet distinct, and what matters is that their "higher education" binds them together, they fit out in the world, and not just in the context of four walls. To the point of explicitly subverting the process because they simply cannot be contained within it, the structure and rules of group and even the limits of Patient/Therapist symbiotic relations.

Kai does this a little bit, but then his rebellion is actually bounded within Therapy, entirely defined by the housemate aspect, and then a rebellion which is naive and thus eternally juvenile. Which is the only way I can stomach the ending they gave him, because that was insulting.

Ooh, Sam! I caught her on Suits a few weeks back, and giggled like mad! I also spotted Dave in a commercial for something (banking maybe?) and every time it came on I had to go "BUT WHERE'S IVAN???" I wants to see Brent (maybe there's a clip online? Must check.) I know he doesn't always (usually) do the very distinct Brent style, but I can't imagine him any other way, if that makes sense.

I haven't seen any ads for it on CTV, so either they dropped it or it's not slated to start airing this fall.

My rant, in short, is this: Those of us who follow the Golden Swan pairing (Mr. Gold [Rumpelstiltskin]/Emma) are being harassed and spied on by some of those who support the Rumbelle pairing (Rumpelstiltskin [Mr. Gold]/Belle). Basically, their pairing is canon, and ours is unlikely to happen. They are accusing us of hating Belle because we can't appreciate how awesome she is. Most of us don't hate Belle - we just haven't been given any reason to like her because she's a flat character so far and seems to exist simply to be Rumple's One True Love. They, in turn, hate Emma for a variety of reasons I'm not entirely sure of. Basically, the more fanatical Rumbellers see the Golden Swan pairing as a threat to theirs, and are lashing out in every way possible. There are sane Rumbellers out there, and I haven't heard of any fanatical Golden Swanners, I haven't gone digging for details.

Yes, I managed to find myself in the middle of a shipping war. I'm doing my best to stay out of it while supporting my pairing and ignoring the fanatics on the other side.

No, the two pairings don't compete at all, at least in my mind. Adam/Erica is just too different from Erica/Dr. Tom to be seen as threats to each other, even if they involve Erica. Personally, I don't believe Adam would have reacted the same way with Dr. Tom as he did with Kai if Dr. Tom had expressed interest in Erica (granted, it's been a while since I watched those episodes, so I could be mis-remembering something). Adam saw Kai as a threat, because he was younger, handsome, and charming. However, I think Adam realized that Kai wasn't mature enough to be a good match for Erica. Dr. Tom is basically the exact opposite of Kai in many regards. Plus, Adam respects Dr. Tom, even if they don't always see eye-to-eye at times. I'm not sure how Adam would have responded if Dr. Tom tried to court Erica, but it would have been interesting to watch.

Opps, wrote a novel there. Sorry!

I *think* I may have spotted Erica in a Canadian Tire pain commercial. but I'm not 100% sure it's her or not. It looks a lot like her, but her one line doesn't sound like her. With Brent, I was 'You look familiar...' *leaned forward towards the TV and squint to see better* 'OMG IT'S BRENT! Yay!' Yeah, he was certainly different from Brent, which is why it took me a bit to realize it was him. The beard he had didn't help either. He appeared in episode 8 of Saving Hope, "Heartsick" if you wanna see him. And apparently he was on an episode of Flashpoint as well. I wonder when?

Also, I realized after that I spammed you with anime titles. Sorry about that, I got over-excited suggesting stuff!
