And I got BEING ERICA FIC!!!!!!!!

(I'm moderating use of exclamation marks and the caps key here, not very well, clearly, but OMG I'm so excited I can't stand it!!!  I don't think I've been this excited about even a new episode!!!  I want everyone to read it and Squee like mad at my lovely Yule Goat, but not before me, because I am selfish, so I'm ( Read more... )

I hope you don't mind I added you to my friends list. In the course of my checking out your LJ for yuletide I discovered you actually analyze and discuss Being Erica episodes, ha. I barely know anybody who watches the show, which I do, let alone actually has 'thoughts'.

:D Yay another BE buddy! *friends* "Analyze" is perhaps a bit charitable, but I do find it utterly impossible to stay quiet about this show, because there's just so MUCH in it, heart and soul and the fire of escapism and reality all at once.

I know what you mean *sighs* - there's just such a thin fandom out there... This is the one show I could get lost in, except that there's so little to get lost IN D: !

(And can I just say again, how utterly perfect your fic is? Just thinking about it I'm struck again by just how logical it is that when Dr. T went to 2019 he would have seen Erica, not just *known* she was fine, and everything that transpires 'after' that point still makes my heart pound and makes me grin like madcap :D:D:D )

PS - I meant to track you down and inquire, without being at all "write me moar!" - do you have access to Power Play? If no, or just for ease of pimping, they're on Youtube here.

You can't imagine how happy it makes me still to hear you loved it. I struggled so much with the idea of BE fic when I first drew your name, because there is so much complicated about it. At the beginning I thought even Power Play with my vague memory of the show would be easier, ha (I request it every year, but I never thought to get matched to write PP fic ( ... )

:D I have to admit, I felt pretty bad this year, because 3/4 of my requests are super, super hard to write. I gave Power Play a whirl last year to see if I could and I couldn't wedge Parker any nearer than heresay. I think the difficulty is Riley. Getting him on paper is just sooo not easy. Which is a large part of why your fic wasn't just LOVE but was EXTRA-LOVE - because he was there, the narrative core of the story, and he was still him but the damaged half of him and we got to peek through his eyes and yet there was still so much mystery, every time we got an answer there were just more questions about what was going on inside his head until it fell together at the end, for the audience AND ERICA as we find out that even though he was situated in the more vulnerable position at the end of the day he did know more than anyone else, which was particularly brilliant, because I absolutely obsess about being in the same emotional place as Erica and about the things Dr. Tom doesn't say and it's a testament to the strength of the ( ... )

I know I forgot to actually reply to this before, but I wanted to say I actually found MU dls of Power Play :) I've managed to get the first season downloaded, and from the few I've watched - yes, yes, I still love the show as much as I did the first time around. I wish it had been...I don't know...more popular, American, something. It deserves a fandom of some sort. Brett and Colleen have a dynamic that just scream for it, and there was so much to be explored creatively ( ... )

\o/ for rewatching Power Play! It's amazing how well it stands up over the years - I even impressed a film student with how awesome it is. (Of course, I also watched a bit before grocery shopping and wound up with Bugles. Best product pimpage ever.)

I'm not sure I could really watch either remake either, not even if they're perfect and expand the world with new, awesome characters and relationships. But I have to sit here with finger's crossed they do okay just because I'm concerned what will happen to the original if the derivatives flop. I'm also concerned about what would happen to the original if the derivatives succeed, but one bridge at a time, eh? ;)

I'm still trying to sort out what makes fandoms tick :( A friend and I were discussing Haven v Being Erica the other day - Haven is easier to be creative for but has nothing really to discuss, whereas BE is rife with discussion fodder but is a creative terror. (But why IS that? What makes this show so bloody hard?)
