Doctor/human!Doctor, ~2000 words
reasons you'd like it: It's probably no secret that I have quite the soft spot for the part-human Doctor, and this fic is a good look at what it would be like to be a spare. There's probably not much harder to do than face yourself, and in shoving both the Time Lord and the part-human together, ariafic gets a chance to pry a bit deeper into the motivations of a character so carefully guarded. The language is sparse but well-chosen and poignant - it hurts, but in a good way.
reasons you wouldn't: Well, by the end there's some slash. Slash which is ...two of the same person. Depending on your inclination that's probably either a reason not to like it or a very good reason to like it. Maybe you don't like angst, which this fic has in droves. Or maybe you just hated Journey's End and biological metacrises.
