My only qualm with moving is the money factor. I really don't want to pay for two places at once. Will an icon-cheat be allowed in posts? That way we can link back to icons we want to use from an old account. It may look lopsided, with the icon in the comment box, but it might do in a pinch.
Would there also be a chance of a poll to move back (I know, what a pain, etc etc) if the S2 is decent? Or holding out until the S2 is released to decide?
I've got to say that for some of us-- myself, at least-- we know we're going to be losing money, or paid time... and are okay with that sacrifice. I don't want to come back to LJ if we move. Ever. I don't want to give them money. I don't want to pay for accounts here.

I'm fairly sure that several other people feel similarly. If you're okay with supporting a group with terrible customer service and lousy treatment of it's long time supporters, that's your prerogative. But if we move off to Dreamwidth-- and then tried to move BACK... I know I wouldn't be coming back to Atarax to LJ.
Yeah, the moving back would just be a pain in the ass. My point is that I've already put my money down; I paid for a year. I think it'd be a little hasty to move without even having the chance to see what the hell they have in store for the S2 style.
Basically, a quick move works out very nicely for the people who had the sense to pay by the month, or whose accounts were almost out anyway. But for those of us that pay by the year, it seems jumpy to take off when the shitstorm's been only about a week long.
WHY CAN'T EVERYONE'S ACCOUNT RUN OUT AT THE SAME TIME, ETC. ETC, CRY MOAR I KNOW. This just sucks overall. I'm fine with a move, but I'm just hoping the icon cheat will be allowed. I don't want to pay for DW until I get my feet wet with it. I want to know that I'll be spending a majority of my time with something before I put money on it. I guess I'm just sort of sensitive about getting what I paid for because Christmas presents sort of drained my checking account.
Yeah that'd be nice, but-- unfortunately, even if they did give us the S2 style bits I wouldn't stay. For me, this isn't about the codebreaking, it's about the general disdain they've had for their paying customers.
They simply don't give a shit. They won't start giving a shit until they start losing revenue. I have a policy of not helping douchebags. So... for me, it's a fairly simple thing of simply not wanting to give this place more money.
