MOD ANNOUNCEMENT: RE: MOVING
Hello, Ataraxites! In light of the recent changes made to Livejournal’s commenting system and general usability as a result of Release 88, we think it’s time we had The Talk about moving off of Livejournal.
A list of the differences between the three main journaling alternatives-Insanejournal, Dreamwidth, and Scribbld-can be found here. Please be aware, however, that the entry is slightly out of date with regards to Dreamwidth; community imports for paid accounts will be enabled sometime within the week, and this listing was written prior to Dreamwidth’s official announcement. Although the list does have a slight bias towards Dreamwidth, it’s a good, concise comparison of the services the three main alternatives offer. Some things to note about Release 88:
‣ The changes in Release 88 will not be rolled back, and are part of a host of other changes Livejournal is planning to make. You can see examples of Livejournal’s proposed new design here, here, and here.
‣ Subject lines will not be restored in later site updates.
‣ There has been no word from Livejournal on when the proposed S2 style mimicking the old commenting system will be released, other than a vague “in a few weeks”.
