001 [AUDIO ]

[Heatwave's first post opens with him talking excitedly and very fast, as though worried that if he doesn't blurt this out immediately he'll forget it. He keeps alternating between clipped briefness like he's trying to give a mission report and...well...babbling.]

[So it's like he's trying to give a really bad mission report.]

I remember how I got ( Read more... )

Primus. I could have told you that! We're going to have to find his aft. And by Stellar Spanner, you mean space bridge?

[Hey. He's not the one outnumbered here.]

I didn't think he'd react that badly. I don't think he moved far. Any idea where his quarters are?

If a Space Bridge operates the same way, probably. I haven't heard it called that, though.

He's high strung. I was hoping it wouldn't have happened this soon.

[he hums]

If I am correct, then the numbers we have engraved in our flesh would possibly correspond to quarters. We did have lockers with our numbers. I'll stop by medbay and find some tranquilizers. I'm afraid that is the only way to calm him down enough to make him functional.

It is supposed to work that way. The technology was too new to be tested properly, but that is a moot point as the inventor perished with it while escaping Cybertron during the final battle on the planet.

Probably a good thing. I didn't like that machine.

[Rude guy, and way too stubborn for its own good.]

Are you sure sedating a human is a good idea? [IS THAT REALLY NECESSARY, DOC?] If you know his number, I can go keep an eye on his door. Make sure he doesn't go anywhere.

I had to sedate a few after battles when they could not cope with the trauma and were in danger of injuring themselves or others. Most of my Autobots were scientists, not warriors. But circumstances required adaptation.

He may not even be in his quarters.

Humans or Autobots?

Would he leave a familiar location? He was somewhere closed in, last I saw him. He seemed comfortable there.

Autobots. I studied humans from afar but never did anything beyond theoretical exercises.

[Ratchet hums again, thinking.]

Not likely.

All right. So he might still be in his quarters.

Should we start checking all of them in our number range or do you have an alternative method? I could try asking his comm, but...they're not very helpful.

[completely misunderstanding the question and also rambling because Chase made this bother him]

It just...isn't helpful. I try and ask it what's going on, or anything about the ship and it just smiles at me and asks me which method I'd like to use to communicate with the network. It's not even bothering to dodge the questions; it just doesn't answer them.

I mean, it's not mean. It's nice enough when it come to the public portion of the network. It's just...not helpful. That's not common for communications equipment like this. Comm units usually willing to chatter as much as you let them once you're past the security systems.

It's like Chase was saying. It's not right.

You can communicate with the network on a different level than the common way? Is that what you're meaning by the systems aren't helpful?
