[ tony, unlike some people, likes observing individuals first before he says anything. there's nothing like making a fantastic entrance because you know what's going on while other people don't. it makes you look smart. technically tony supposes he doesn't need any help in that department, but it never hurts to be the observer first. right now he's ( Read more... )

you forgot babysitter to SH. but tell me you've already found the medbay or medical area in general.

someone who won't get you killed would be the company, i'm assuming for you.

On the occasion that he's an idiot.
Yes, I've found the medbay. Brought up to speed on treatment in space.
Still trying to get a handle on the hardware.

[ Because Capa is straight forward and you cannot get more straight forward than: ]

PhD in Astrophysics.
Specializing in stellar formation, physical cosmology and antimatter.
NASA space-training (4 years).

I don't think that's advisable.

...so this entire thing is actually up your alley. aren't you lucky. how long has it been since you had that training and the ph.d. for that matter.

the running around exploring alone, with a buddy, or in general? not everyone likes to do "advisable" things.

The tech on the ship is still mostly theoretical where I'm from, but I've been doing the legwork to play catch-up. Interstellar travel, FTL - there aren't any practical applications of these back home. So up my alley, but a little beyond the pale.

As for my training, it's up to date. I was taken mid-mission, actually. It's problematic.

Exploring alone. Specifically without someone who isn't familiar with the tech or space travel in general. I've never had it myself, but the 'shiny red button' syndrome doesn't go over well in an environment like this. And there are a lot of civillians on this ship.

you're ahead of me in a timely of earth-based tech as much as that pains me to admit. i'm allowed to say it's up your alley even if's "a little beyond the pale". at their base they had to be built from something that was the tech before. you just have to work your way up to it. shouldn't be...too hard.

that's not just problematic. that's just about the worst timing i've heard.

if i did go alone i know better than to press 'shiny red buttons'. and i noticed, but think about it, you have civilians who don't know what's going on and then logically they want to know. they're probably more inclined to do it alone and press a button when no one else who is more capable of handling the situation is actually exploring.

[Megamind has figured out PRIVATE MESSAGING. He has leveled up! Gains 'be a dick in private' skill.]

[He's not surprised that they're on the same wavelength; finding out whta people can do, how they do it, and so forth--is good. He'll be watching this post like he watched the meet and greet, taking in what he can find out.]

Already gone exploring. Took a while, though. There's miles worth of decks here, and the tubes don't go to all of them.

[ ...but have you learned how to keep things from the technopaths yet? that's how you know you've reached the ULTIMATE level. or something like that.

tony is...he wishes he was surprised, but he knows that apparently some people are as nosy as him and that is admittedly problematic. alas, he'll allow people to see things because he knows nine times out of ten, they'll forget them. ]

The entire ship or just a bit of it? Since considering there's...miles of decks, I find it slightly doubtful that you managed to get to everything, not get lost and all that jazz.

Our esteemed captain doesn't even have a map of the ship. Like I've got it all covered? Be realistic. I'm great, but I'm not that great.

[We'll see how things work with 'technopaths'... Megamind's a bit of a genius, he might figure out how to... scream at them ineffectually.]

considering that a few idiots are claiming they did, and considering i have someone claiming ~omnipotence~, valid question to ask. regardless of your so-called greatness level.

how lost were you?

[ while tony will be a winner and devise at least one lock to keep them out. don't worry megamind, he won't...laugh too much at you. ]

Weapon and System Designer.

What parts of the ship?

biggeststick December 12 2011, 01:03:32 UTC
How advanced were they?

[ because tony has to admit that he's currently so pleased to read those four words. ]

Any of them that haven't been explored by the general populace.

babbletechno December 12 2011, 01:34:03 UTC
As advanced as my faction's engineers and scientists could make them at any given point. Mostly weapons, though. Security systems. It was war.

So the dangerous parts, then? Parts of the ship are completely inaccessible through the systems and network. Might be true physically as well. Possibly for a reason. [aka: go or it, but don't take just anyone just because they want to go]

and obviously civilian tech was less of a priority. used to make them myself, so, i get that.

[ technically the iron man suit is still a weapon and tony is a beast when it comes to security, but hey, no one needs to know that yet. ]

those parts exactly. it's logical that the answers are going to be there, especially if they're not around the common places a crew member would be. you can't tell me there isn't enough people here who have...some experience with tech that might be able to get us in there.

Well, I'm a tall ship, so I have a good knowledge and experience in everything relevant to sailing.
I'm also a schoolship, and I've taught people to sail for... decades. I'm 97.
I also have a good scientific knowledge, but I'm afraid I don't have the one relevant to sailing in space. Only on the sea. Also, I learn very fast and I can use a brain when needed.
This, unfortunately, isn't enough for our crew to find anything useful, and I'm afraid I would tend to agree.

I'm also planning on looking around, even as I'm getting busy helping people here and there. Anyone can join me, and I'm willing to join any groups.

Sailing in space and sailing in water are actually slightly interchangable. A bit more difficult, but if you're...97, you have to have some knowledge of the various types of sailing.

...And you have a brain, so that's a plus.

[ does he actually trust that brain to be used? nope. besides, this dude is a ship. ]

Noted. Safe to say you have an internal compass?

Well, there are no winds in space, so I admit it'll be a little bit difficult to make the transition, but I know how it works. Except the whole jump thing. I know you need engines only to change direction or speed in space, what with there being no friction, so they're not needed right now if we're going in a straight line to wherever we're going.
Yes, I do, and I use it.

Well, I do, but it's behaving a bit off right now.

i was kidding about the compass thing.

...though out of curiosity, how off are we talking?
