This is my 9 Month timeline from GUDU. My dreads are actually 11 months now, but I forgot to post this here before. 1 year timeline coming up next month!
As I approach the one year mark, I figured it was time to finally introduce myself. I started lurkinig last August, and started dreading December 11. The delay was because I was nervous about starting them myself, and worried about what they'd think at work. Everything really started with my Halloween trip to Romania and a pair of dread falls.
Before:
Romania:
The dread falls that started it all pictured here.
Scarlett Pomers (middle) insisted that I should have dreads in real life and not worry about what people think. Also there was a waitress in Romania with beautiful dreads and stretched ears. Pretty much all the inspiration I needed.
My gypsy kitty. I named him Vlad. Too bad he wouldn't make it through customs...
At Bran Castle
Partying with the hotel staff. They loved the crazy Americans that took over their lobby.
Chopping wood with some nuns in Piatra Fântânele.
Climbed 1500 stairs to Peonari Castle.
After that I went home, contemplated a bit, stopped brushing my hair for a couple weeks just to see what would happen, and decided backcombing was the way to go.
Day 1:
Wet
Tied back, fresh color. Note one green dread which really annoyed me because I kept getting it caugt while combing the fringe.
Me and my sister, Sarah, and our brainy specs.
1 Month:
New color!
2 Months:
Unfortunately work didn't like the color+dreads+undercut+new lip piercing. The color had to go.
Decided to dread the front.
3 Months:
5 Months:
Loopies!
6 Months:
Fort Mifflin in Philly
Deep Clean:
9 Months: Decided to brush out the front dreads.
Henna. Didn't like how orange it was in front though.
Darker in front, and a nice view of the button.
My favorite dread.
Before and afters:
One month Nine months
five months: This dread was one, seperated into two, then merged back into one. Lets check its progress.
Nine months
On August 1st I gave my sister dreads.
1 Month:
A little wet.
Then she decided to go darker too.
The other day we went apple/raspberry picking:
We conquered the hay mountain!
Everyone here has inspired me over the last 9 months and I love looking at everyone's pictures, sharing experiences, etc. Hopefully I'll get around to posting a bit more.
In a couple months my undercut should be grown out enough to dread, and then I'll probably be looking for some maintenance as well. That means you NY/NJ people! ; )
