It was a sort of low-key weekend, even if we did end up spending a lot of money. >.> Yay, refund checks.
Saturday we went and washed the Saturn. This is a bigger deal than it first seems. Dex hasn't been washed since last summer, and a winter's worth of grime and salt and sand and dirt and dust had formed quite a layer on him. He was no longer dark green, but a medium gray. At some point during the winter,
plonq had drawn a large circle in the dirt on the trunk. I berated him (ack! it scratches the finish *and* points out how dirty the car is!), but in a few weeks the circle had filled in with grime again.
Now, he's mostly clean. (He picked up some more ook on the way home. This is a dusty time of the year here.) They did their half-assed job on the carpets, too, so they don't crunch with sand when we get in. Aah. :)
After that, we went to the mall and bought me some clothes. I had a coupon for Cotton Ginny (I like that store because I can fit into things that say "large" instead of "extra-large"), and I bought a few things for interviews. All of my interview clothes are hopelessly dated. I'm not even sure why I'm still hanging onto them. :/ Anyway, now I have some more girl clothes.
Then we returned some beer empties and bought more beer.
Saturday night, we made some popcorn, opened a few beers and watched a movie. The next movie in my uber Godzilla collection was
All Monsters Attack! Oh, it was bad. It wasn't even the fun kind of bad that we enjoy on Bad Movie Night. It was just ... bad. We have one movie left in the collection:
Terror of Mechagodzilla, which I think I might already have (and have watched already.) After that, we're going to go back through and watch the American versions. I'm interested to see how different
Gojira is with Raymond Burr in it.
On Sunday, Plonq had to wait and wait and wait for his stuff from work to come in, so I ended up going grocery shopping myself. :( I spent about $111, and that includes expensive razor blades for Plonq (err, to trim his beard, not to kill him), a magazine, and a bag of flour. I also found some of the nested storage containers we'd been looking for, but I decided that could wait until next week. We do need to pick up some fresh pitas on Wednesday from the deli up the street. (They're best when they're fresh!)
Our menu for this week looks like this:
Sunday: Masoor dal tarka
Monday: TVP tacos
Tuesday: Corn chowder with scallops
Wednesday: Spanish rice
Thursday: Veggie pasta
Friday: Prefab
