We had some things that we wanted to get done this weekend. We neglected a bunch of them because we took advantage of the beautiful day yesterday to clean up the yard and garden. We picked the very last of the zucchini, tomatoes and beans from the dying plants. (We got a large handful of baby zucchini (like, 3-4 in long), which I think I'm just going to slice in half and either grill or sautee with some garlic and parmesan.)
plonq vacuumed the yard with the lawnmower and dumped the leaves into the garden, we brought the hose in, and I turned over the water barrel to protect it for the winter.
Ah, winter. It'll be here before we know it.
This is going to be the first year in a long time that I've had to ride the bus during the winter. It wasn't a matter of choice, really: when I had to be at work by 6am, the very first bus would get me there at 6:10am. We had to drive in. We've kept our parking spot, because I can still ride in with Plonq most days, and I always get a ride home with him. Every once in a while, though, I have to ride the bus in, and I have to ride the bus from one campus to another on Thursdays.
I am not relishing the though of standing at a bus stop in -60C windchills again. True, I won't have to contend with that sort of cold this semester (we usually don't see those temperatures until January or February) and with any luck we'll get another "mild" winter where it only gets down to -20C or so. But if we do get a crazy cold snap, I'm going to be shivering on the bus.
Hmm. I guess I should hurry up and finish my scarf.
In other news, I have Wednesday off this week. I normally have only one class (since I tested out of the other Wednesday class), but the Cre Comm students we share that class with are going to City Hall Wednesday for a journalism project. So, since 95% of the class will be missing, it's cancelled.
That's a good thing, because we have a midterm in Technical Illustration Thursday. This will give me a chance to study. I think I might just come into school on Wednesday anyway and find a quiet corner to study in. There are fewer distractions here than at home. :)
I'm not really sure how I'm going to study for that midterm, though, since most of what we're doing is practical stuff. Hmm.
*edit: A raven just landed on the roof outside the window where I'm sitting. I wish I had my camera - that thing was HUGE.
