:(
So tomorrow I'm returning the mom and kittens that I took last week. The kittens are an armful of cute, and the mother is a complete sweetheart.
Problem one: Kitten #2 is not litter trained. I don't know what the problem is. It's like she has ADD, and just goes wherever she happens to be when she's playing. I think she goes in the box sometimes... But it could be that when I clean the room this weekend I'll find all sorts of "surprises." Ugh.
Problem two: I just noticed tonight that the tip of mom's tail is chewed completely through to the bone. As in, you can see the bones in the tip of her tail. I am completely overwhelmed by this - the fact that we've had her a week and I didn't fucking notice that the end of her fucking SPINE was hanging out.
I knew that the end of her tail was always kinda wet, and I'd seen her licking it a lot... But a lot of cats from the shelter are stressed out, and they pick up weird habits. I didn't think anything about it. She was really touchy about letting you touch her tail (now I know why!) so I didn't bother her about it.
I know... I know... It's understandable that I missed it.
plonq missed it too. It's not my fault.
But.
But these cats are in our care. As such, I'm responsible for their health and safety. I should have noticed something like that.
