Lounging in the sun was well and good-- and Jet, being an Earth Kingdom boy was already starting to bronze. But even a guy like had to go clean up sometimes, and there he was, supper on the table, the TV on (nothing interesting, just noise in the background -- some nature show) and a grin on his lips

Katara tilts her chin for that kiss and watches him go, quiet and thoughtful. Did she love Jet? It was highly possible, but this Jet, not the one from Lake Laogai? A little less possible, but still-- possible. Did she like him a lot? Yes, oh yes, either way.
But was she ready for anything beyond what had happened in the cove, with someone she wasn't totally sure of yet?
Seeing as Jet is her first boyfriend and, practically, her first crush, Katara is far more versed in ways to show people you love them that have absolutely nothing to do with kisses.
Like getting them dinner and being appreciative of their modesty.
Smiling again, though back to being a little hesitant and shy, Katara nods and follows him, leaning against the back of the couch with her hands folded in front of her while she waits. "I just came up from the lake. There's a bonfire set up, if you want to go later, and some treats and things for dessert-- unless you made something, I mean."
She ate foot-stew for him in the woods, after all.

So that's that, isn't it? He comes back with a fuzzy, cozy robe of green and gold that he offers to put over her shoulders-- sure, so he can slide his hands down her arms, kiss her neck and smile, but...
..yeah, still a little concerned, but she's not freaking out or anything, so... maybe everything's kosher. "It's some tofu and veggies, is all."
And he's not a yuppie, so the tofu must be safe.

It might make him kiss her even less
Lifting her arms to get the robe on, she grins, giggles a little with his touches-- and catches his hands around her, holding them there so she can lean against him.
"I really did just want to see you," she lets him know, tilting her chin to see his face and smile. And-- that was it. It's what the eighty other details of her pouncing him boiled down to, anyway.

"C'mon. Let's get you fed," he says, and finds her hands to tug her after him.

Tugged along, she catches up and holds onto his hand, sidling up against his side. "Smells good! I'm really hungry!"
Since she's been swimming for about twelve hours.

The fare is vegetarian, but good (and Jet's never minded Veggies, even if he's got a meat love that Sokka could respect) and Jet dishes it up once he gets unglued from his girl.
"Take a seat, sweets, and dig in."

It's a plate and a half later that she starts to slow. Girl's got an appetite on her, tribal barbarian and all. But right now, she's poking at tofu with her chopsticks, thoughtful.

"So you gonna tell me what's on your mind, Katara?"
Reply
There is more poking of chopsticks on plate, Katara frowning thoughtfully at the veggies before she looks up at him with a light frown.
"How long until I can just pounce on you for kisses without you making me stop and explain first?"
This is Very Important Information.

He sighs, and then says, "... you're an easy mark, Katara. Don't deny it-- I ought to know." He's played her, hard, before. "I just-- want to make sure I'm not doin' somethin' I shouldn't. I -- I'm a guy. I run on real simple needs. But..."
He frowns, and says, "You mean something to me. An' I want to be that guy you -- you ran up to greet, in the bar. Can't do that... if I'm not thinking about you an' what's good for you, as opposed as what feels good right that second."

Sweet.
Good.
What she always-- thought he was. Before, long before, and then again, right near the end.
"Sometimes I think you're already him," Katara says quietly, looking up at him with a sweet smile-- but she reaches over with a hand, not for a kiss, but to lace fingers.
"I really... really like you, Jet. A lot."
And that counted for everything, no matter what anyone said.

But he closes his hand around hers, and smiles. "I'm glad," he says. "Cause I really like you too, Kats."
So that's why he tries.

She doesn't want her smile to fade. She doesn't want to think of Zuko when she's with Jet, when she cares about him not that stupid Fire brat, when she wants to be with Jet, the end, nothing else.
So Katara doesn't let her smile falter. She leans over and kisses him once, softly, and squeezes his hand before nodding toward the window. "Do you want to go out to the bonfire? Or we could stay in, maybe watch a movie?"
Reply
He's getting up and sliding an arm around her. "C'mon. You. Me. Some of that-- popcorn stuff. We can watch a movie. IF the sun's still out tomorrow... it's out. If not? We'll curl up and watch the snow fall again."
Reply
"What should we watch?"
Reply
Picking up the remote with one hand, he'll.. find something suitable. Not like they'll be watching in five minutes anyway.
