Spin!

Finally the election is over!

Obama's speech was great! It was so good to hear a president- elect with eloquence and statesmanship speaking. No more buffoonish antics from GW. I thought to myself, surely the real george bush must be an actual intelligent man.... but no, he has invented too many stupid things on the spot, done too many ridiculous things, fumbled so many opportunities, and blatantly pissed off so many of america's allies.

Barely had the speech ended, when I watched with a strange mix of amusement and disgust as the Fox announcer, making little effort to conceal the angry and exasperated look in his eyes, started a conversation with his female anchor and then they started in on explaining why it wasn't John Mccain's fault that he lost the election. 17% of people who voted for george bush voted for Barack Obama, they said. The woman says, well I wonder why that is? Gee. I wonder.  John Mccain just couldn't compete against those numbers, they said. Sarah Palin is what defeated him, they said, on a network that wouldn't have even dared to say anything like that the day before. You could see both of them trying not to trip over their words as they tried to politely put a spin on the election results in John Mccain's favor.

For sure, I mean, I was waiting for Mccain to pull out of his hat Conan the Barbarian, or maybe Mickey the Mouse to endorse him. I mean, cmon, Sarah Palin? The race just became like some kind of ridiculous slapstick drama after she was picked. As many of my female friends said they actually were more insulted by the choice of such a anti feminist woman than inspired.

I am excited by anticipation of this nation turning to the better again, as I remember how it felt under GW, getting worse with every new fumbled disaster or new law or corporate benefit slipped under the radar. Remember when George promised subsidies to corn farmers and manufacturers? That is when all soft drinks started tasting like crap, and mexican cokes became good, as all the sugar cane in everything became replaced by corn syrup.

Yes, the man who is elected President does have a influence on your daily life.

Thank God we have an intelligent man in the white house again, one who actually knows what the Constitution is all about.
