The Art of Drowning is a Death Note fanfic by Quiet (love her/his name; don't have to spend 15 minutes trying to get all the numbers and letters right). It really is a great fanfic if my spending the last 5 hours reading it is not an indication.
Now when I say confusing, I really mean complex and confusing as a writer. As a reader, I'm following everything pretty easily. As a writer, I can't even imagine all of the things she's taking into account. There are like four different groups that are doing things at the same time. I mean, I forgot that Light thought L had died before he realized L was Lawli... I imagine that sentence was very confusing for those who haven't read it. My point is that I'm terribly impressed that the writer can keep up with all these events going on at the same time. It's a very... active story for lack of better words and a bigger vocabulary. Oh leave me alone. I'm exhausted.
It flows well, though honestly the cliffhangers are constantly out to get me in her story. Crazy plot. So many killing attempts on Light. I felt bad for him. I also tend to mourn that cut across his face. He has such a nice face. The story I find to be hilarious. Makes me wonder why she didn't stick humor in the genres though I suppose drama and romance do trump the humor. Jealous L is cute. Light tends to be a little OOC, but as my friend said, it's nearly impossible to Light in character unless the story follows the manga plot closely. I don't mind too much. Quiet's Light is pretty funny and is consistent. That's all that really matters character-wise.
Hacker of the Past is simply amazing. A story that flows very well with very nice make-out scenes I might add. At least that's what my best friend would tell you. Really though, it's a good story. Interesting plot and the author has a great imagination for espionage like scenes. Also the balance between romance, humor, and drama is absolutely perfect. I believe I spent about 6 hours reading her story under the guise of studying for government. Believe me, her story is much more enthralling than any government textbook. I feel she is reaching the end of her plot, so i can't wait to see how the ending goes.
Ah crap. I referred to both authors as she. Sorry, I have this terrible habit of assuming fanfiction authors, especially ones for yaoi, are girls. If you are a guy, I apologize.
Well, these are two beautiful golden walls and are worthy of anyone's favorite collection. I'm sleepy and I have to read for government.
Pooey.
