I cannot stop thinking about one thing that this election really drives home for me:

It is a profound thing to see someone who looks like you in a position of power.

It is also striking to me that white men will not be able to understand this. (I keep trying to write more, to cushion this statement...but I'm not sure what else to say. There is a wash of relief that I feel and that I think many women feel this year. Accompanied by washes of anger, thanks to the ever-sexist media.)

If Clinton wins, never again will any girl be told that maybe when she grows up, she can be the first female president of the united states of america. That would be an amazingly wonderful sentence to strike from our childhoods.
