Behind him trailed Catherine, who was still a little bit lost in thinking about how to expand mental health services. She brightened to see Carson outside waiting, and waved.

Carson looked up just in time to see Catherine approaching, closing the book on the paper on Hypophosphatemia he'd been reading. He knew that there probably wasn't much reason to be nervous, but was, none the less.

"I don't know about that," she teased, though her hips did sway flirtatiously as she approached. "Maybe you just need glasses, Dr. Beckett."

"...cheeky." Carson mockingly accused, then pressed a kiss to her lips once she'd closed the distance between them. "How was your day?"

It was harder to keep this secret until the last minute than he thought it would be.

"It was fine," Catherine said, almost dismissively, winding her arms around his neck. "Shockingly, it was a little boring."

"The infirmary was the same way, so...I managed t'bugger off a bit early," He informed her, kissing her again. "I made dinner."

"You left work early and you cooked? Now I'm really impressed," Catherine teased, grinning at him.

"Oh, you haven't heard the half of it," Carson went on to say, "I caught it as well." Which had been something that he'd been meaning to do for quite a while now, to be perfectly honest.

"Keep talking like that," laughed Catherine, "and we won't even make it to dinner." She released him so that she could saunter inside.

"Is that so?" Carson inquired, following her inside to where he'd already set things up for dinner.

Her smile only widened when she saw the set-up, and she glanced over her shoulder. "Yeah, that's so. I didn't realize you thought you still had to work that hard," she teased.

"Well...no but that wasn't exactly my intention when I set out to do this." He pulled out her chair for her, not able to hold back his own grin.

"Alright then, off your feet." He wasn't the world's best cook, but he figured that it was worth having a go at it. For the occasion and all.

Catherine sat down, smoothing her skirt with her palms. "It smells good. Maybe I should make you cook all the time."

"Like they say...'What may be done at any time will be done at no time', dear.” Carson commented, taking his own seat.

"Who's 'they'?" Catherine questioned easily, leaning forward a little bit.
