Dancing for the world to see

I've been back in belly dance classes for the past year, more on than ever in the past (one to three days a week). One of the places where I take classes, Hipnosis Studio, started a new student troupe this past spring - Daughters of the Hip. It started with just level 1-2 students who really wanted to perform and has evolved to include anyone, even Tribal Spirit dancers not dancing in the TS set.

I bowed out of the "premiere" performance, too self conscious about how I'd look showing my ample belly. Got a lot of "grief" from classmates for not dancing, which made me feel better. At the performance, I saw other dancers with less than perfect bodies who were amazing dancers. I admired them and realized that, maybe I can do it too.

I danced at the August Belly Jam but thought I looked like a dork, so that link isn't being posted here (yes, it was pointed out that the accessory I picked had a bit of dorkiness to the way I wore it but I was stupid and ignored them).

I danced at the December Belly Jam and had a much less dork look. So, swallowing my pride, you can go to YouTube and see me dance. I was supposed to be in the pairs set, but my partner had to bow out at the last minute, so I had two weeks to learn the set I did.
