In Memorium - Cleocatra

Last evening, Cleo, my mom's tabby cat, passed from this world to the next. As I had posted previously, she had been sick and the vet did not give her long because of her condition and age (I think she was 17).

I did not know Cleo as well as I knew Cass as she moved in after I had moved out. She was a "rescue" kitty - someone had dumped her and her littermates at the vet's office. He said he had heard sounds in the night and when he went to investigate found baby kittens. He and his wife got flashlights and found as many of the kittens as they could. Cleo was one of those found.

She was adopted by my mom when she was old enough. She was not as outgoing and loving as Cass, but she still had her moments. She tended to be very shy and didn't like being sought out for loving. She might sometimes deign to be petted, but only if she wanted pets and only for as long as she wanted them.

I am glad BF and I got the chance to say goodbye. She was a very sweet kitty and her passing so soon after Cass was not easy for my mom. She told me that she will be taking in kitties and filling her home with purrs again.
