My grades this semester were announced this week, with the last one announced yesterday. I got 2 Bs, 1 A-, and 2 As.
The B's
The Bs are for "Social Statistic" and "TV and Entertainment Industry Seminar". I predicted that I would only get a B, or the best B+. I blew the final exam of the first and the mid-term paper for the second. So, the grades are as expected. No surprise there.
The A-
The A- is also kind of predicted. I mean, it's a subject that I like ("Media & Minority"). I submitted "Gay Stereotype on News" for my final paper, which I had more passion in writing it compared to others. I was hoping that the worse will be A-. So, I was happy with the grade.
The A's
One A is for "Qualitative Methodology". While this is basically a team effort grade (since we work in a small group), I do "qualitative research" for a living, albeit for marketing purpose and not social science. So I did hope that I at least got an A-. However, the other A, came as a happy surprise.
That grade is for "Communication Technology and Industry Seminar". The professor has a reputation of being difficult. He's 79 years old, he's one of the earliest doctor in communication in my country. He has more experience in communication and media studies than others, I guess. I sort of blew the mid-term exam (only got 75 for it).
While I was satisfied with my final paper (I wrote about "The Implementation of Network TV in Indonesia), I was only hoping for B+ or the best A-, considering the result of my mid-term exam. When I discovered that I got an A, especially coming from this difficult professor, I was as happy as a chipmunk in cafein. This is the one I am proud of. Forget the B's, they're not the subject I have passion for anyway. But communication technology
(especially with the rise of new media), is something I have interest in.
That's the school update. In other news, I'm bummed with Dutch's lost from Germany. Need a miracle for them to get through to the next round. And I just did fitting for the gown that I will wear on my sister's wedding. She chose PINK for the female family members and I must say that PINK is so not my color *grin*. But the gown looks nice -- my sister knows the style.
