I watched my 80th movie this year (still too far away from my target of 100 movies *head desk*): Black Swan
I have wanted to see this movie ever since I heard about it. One, I LOVE Natalie Portman -- she is one of my favorite actresses alongside Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, and Amy Adams. Two, I LOVE movies about ballet. And WOW, this movie just delivers. It's a mixture of psychological drama and thriller. The combination of Clint Mansell's music, a sense of claustrophobia, and amazing performances by both Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis (who is slowly becoming an actress I like to see on screen as well) is lethal. I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen. When Natalie Portman's character transformed into Black Swan on the stage, it was a complete opposite from her part as White Swan, and it was amazing!
Definitely one of my favorite movies of the year. Verdict: A-
Now, I wonder if I can continue my movie passion, since I DO want to watch the movies nominated for Globes (or later on Oscar) just like last year. Maybe I should try to go to the cinema today. There are a couple of movies that playing now, which interest me ...
