179. What I look forward the most on Glee next season ...
Told you all that I was an LJ whore right? I seem to always able to find a topic to write about. I thought of the topic of this entry while I was taking a shower (figure that!).
Do you want to know what I look forward the most on Glee next season? The fact that Kurt will have a boyfriend. Ryan Murphy said, “I just want him to be an everyday dude, And I want him to be sort of struggling [with his sexuality] and Kurt helps him deal with it and in the process they fall for each other.”
Do you know why this matters to me?
Kurt is my favorite character in the show, simply because his three-dimensional character is a positive portrayal of a gay youth. He struggles with sexuality but decides to come out to his dad and embraces his flamboyant side. Remember when he refused to change when he was pushed by the football jocks? Of course, it helps that his Dad also shows support to his only son (I love you, Burt! Especially when you lashes out on Finn for saying the "F" word. No, not that one, the other one) - even when he says that he doesn't understand.
Now, the fact that Kurt might have a romantic relationship with an everyday dude feels like a dream come true, for me, to see this male/male young-adult love on screen. Let's face it, I only have experience for this on books. Books like "Leave Myself Behind", "Out of the Pocket", "The Vast Fields of Ordinary", several stories by J.M. Snyder, like "Power Play", "Vince", "Best Friends", as well as some free stories that I found all over the net (one of my favorites, "Hate" by Martin Clement) ... show how the gay youth deal with his sexuality and find love along the way. But on TV, the gay couples are usually adult, while on movies, they either have sad endings or raunchy stories that basically scream PORN. I have never seen a portrayal of positive gay young love.
That's why I can't wait to see this plot. I would love to see this positive take on gay youth. A story where the young man doesn't get kicked out from the house from being gay or suffer from hate crime. I always want to see the stories I read from those books to come alive on TV (or movies, but like I said, they just basically made porn *sigh*)
