It was perfect.
This is probably the BEST episode in season 1 part 2 (after the hiatus). PERFECT storyline and PERFECT performances. The story and the songs are in perfect harmony. It compliments each other. Of course we got the 'buzz' on Idina's character being Rachel's mom for so long (they do have striking resemblance!) so it wasn't such a big twist. Still ...
Matthew and Neil's "Dream On" made my jaw dropped. It's an EPIC performance, deserves of a stage in the Nokia Theater, to replace's this year's American Idol final. Kevin's "Safety Dance" was fun and a joy to watch -- switching from camera to reality. BUT OH MY GOD, Idina and Lea's "I Dreamed of Dream" gave me shivers and brought me to tears. I remember watching Susan Boyle singing this song from YouTube and I was crying then, now I heard that version from them and cried again. It was amazing. Really, amazing. We need more episodes directed by Joss Whedon and starring both Neil Patrick Harris and Idina Menzel.
