All the pieces are coming together…let’s hope the glue holds.

[Continued from here]

What’s the most perfect way to spend a Saturday? Spending the entire afternoon with Lindsey, finding the world’s most perfect dress for the most amazing and anxiety bringing dinner of my life.

Everything seemed to be going good, everything was almost falling into place and…how can something bad come from all this good? Because that’s how the world works apparently.

“Call me a sentimental old fool, but I believe in keeping the people I truly love safe and away from all harm.”

"But...that's what I'm trying to figure out...if I am the harm. Secrets and lies are everywhere but no answers."

“It will be hard...The right choices often are. But if you look into your heart, Tara, I know you’ll find the strength to make that choice.”

Those words haunted me, they all did. No matter how happy I am, all I can do is think and worry about what’s going to happen in a few weeks.

One look from Lindsey does me in though, all thoughts and worries leave my mind for the moment and it feels wonderful. The way he looks at me, the way he smiles and his hands moving over me.

I love him; I do. I just wish I had the nerve to tell him that I do. Soon…once I know…I have to know…

His voice pulls me back to the present and I smile up at him, deciding not to argue with him when he tells the woman to put the shoes on his card too. “Thank you.” I whisper, kissing his cheek and keeping my arms wrapped loosely around his waist.

"I did mention that you're drop-dead gorgeous, right?"

I smiled and glanced down, letting him turn me to face the mirror again. I gazed at him through the mirror and the way he looked at me made me wonder if he was actually looking at me or someone else. Nobody ever looked at me like this, not the way he does.

"I don't just mean now. The dress just makes you see what I see all the time."

My cheeks flushed slightly and I turned to kiss his cheek, hugging his arms around my waist and pulling him closer. “Maybe…I…” I felt my face get a bit redder and I sighed softly. “Always thought it was wrong to be vain, you know?” I paused and laced my fingers with his. “Nobody’s ever looked at me the way you do…sometimes, sometimes I wonder if you’re really looking at me or there’s someone else more interesting behind me.”

He brushed my hair from my neck and kissed me softly. “Thank you, it’s…it’s all beautiful.” My voice was soft and I didn’t want to move from where we were but I needed to change back into my clothes so the woman giving us dirty looks behind the counter can pack the dress up. “I’ll go get changed and…” I grinned at him. “How about we go get ice cream…my treat. No arguments.” My eyes met his through the mirror and I knew that somehow things would be ok. They had to be.
