Ok so as the Pre-K class naps, bless them little children, I have spent some time looking on the net about London, cause incase you haven't noticed, we all will be in London in a 22 days.. or so.
As being my first time to London for more than a plane exchange, and I am not one of those "touristy" tourists.. I have done some digging into finding the "real London" and figure I'd pass it on to you!
Oyster Cards
If you are going to be in London before or after the con, I would recommend looking into these. It's a simple pay as you go card, pre-paid at first, refill as you need, card you can use in the rail, bus, tube... almost any of the public transportation. The card itself has a small fee (2 BP) and is pre-filled in 12 BP or 15 BP according to the website (
found here") and is much like the Washington Metro system in Washington DC.
It's cheap, fast, and easy... something I have found the Londoners love!
A to Z Map of London
Don't know how useful this may be, or how expensive, but I found it as I was looking at things. Apparently they are sold in different places and contain the entire map of London. If nothing else, maybe a good souvenir if not too outragous.
Globe Theatre
I love the theatre, and who can resist Shakespeare's almost foreign pose? The famed Globe Theatre has gotten a big boost the last few years, and is open during the week before and after (and extended) the AT_3 weekend. Tickets are from 5 BP (standing) to 30+ BP (sitting).
Not your typical tourist thing, but me dare think(ith) it's worth it!
(will update more when have time!!)
