[Voice Post]

Ah, so that was a curse. And there I thought they were all celebrating Asian holidays, how silly. I think I'll join the outcry of those saying they'd rather not do it again, as I'm sure there must be, or will be, if there isn't already ( Read more... )

Way I hear tell, we ain't got a choice if we gonna do it next time a curse roll around.

Like you say: add me to them who ain't pleased with that.

That mindset has never been one I've subscribed to, and I don't plan to start now.

Always happy to be so eclectic.

Yeah, me neither. Folk here seem a little eager to accept it, if you ask me.

Thus is the sad state of complacency. I imagine such things settle in when one has no control over their situation.

Yeah, that was a curse. That particular one's never happened before, though--it might not show up again.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I see your head is still attached?

As will I.

I had the sense to stay in my flat for the day. You seemed to have survived all right, too.

Besides stabbing the son of King Henry, my day was rather uneventful.

You stabbed someone?

It's happened before.

Did you behead anyone, too?

Only stabbed, thank you. I do have some restraint, Ms Valentine.

Aye, that was a curse, Roberts. I'd been waiting for the damned city to spring something that bad. The past one (or indeed two or three apparently) appear to have been positively pleasant. Place hasn't gone soft, more's the pity.

You say that with vague experience; how long have you been here?

Reply

heart0foak February 10 2008, 17:58:18 UTC
You know, Roberts, I haven't the slightest clue? My journals from the last time I was here list my having spent about a month in the city on and off, and since then a year and a half has passed here. Yet, in my own world, it all passed in but a few nights of dreaming. Weeks then went by in my own world: I met my untimely demise. Then I wandered in some sort of luminiferous ether for a while, and then I found myself dragged back here.

Time, it would appear, is a fickle mistress.

You would seem to have the distinction, Admiral, of owning up to one of the more odd stories I've heard in my lifetime, though I suspect you would not thank me for the congratulations.
