Sooo...
Anything I might have said about Obama seeming like a decent fellow, or being someone that seemed willing to build consensus...
Expunge all of it.
"I said something that everybody knows is true," Obama told the Muncie crowd.
What did he say about "small towns":
"... they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

I don't know anyone who defends 2nd amendment rights because they feel economically left behind. Self Defense is a human right, and a right specifically protected in our constitution. The suggestion that people work to support and see this right upheld because the government has failed them seems utterly nonsensical to me.

Could it be that people failing to worship politics and government has nothing to do with the government "not doing enough" for them, but rather motivated soley by honest belief in their religion, without reguard to politics? Then again, his church sounds like it's more about faith in politics than anything else.

Notice the use of "anti-immigrant", when the topic is ILLEGAL-immigration, not LEGAL-immigration. Just like the 2nd amendment, the people want to see the law upheld, and not side stepped/ignored by people in the government. If people are bitter, it is precisely the actions of people in government who ignore the laws, rendering them to no effect without actually changing them according to the lawful process.

Enough ranting. Simply put, despite Barak's back peddling and appologies, he has said what he said, and meant it. Presidents do not get "Do Overs". He has a distorted picture of people of faith, people who believe in their constitution, and the laws, and people who do not wish to be nannied by The State. I have no confidence in his ability to unite, or work with an America he doesn't understand.
