Down by the Creekbank...

So this week, after a week in Mexico and Root Canal Part II on Thursday, I have been accompanying the children's musical, "Down by the Creekbank". It is possibly the gayest musical ever written. Some highlights:

A song titled, "Senses", which changes key SIX TIMES!!! and goes on ad nauseaum about our five senses. Also includes a lovely instrumental part wherein the childen pantomime different senses, including licking an ice cream cone and sniffing something (a flower?!)

"Love Is": Love is never stuffed up, never puffed up, never gives up when the going's rough. It's the biggest little thing you can say, by the way... Etc., etc.

"Germs, Germs, My Invisible Dog": A whole song about an invisible dog. My favorite verse is: I take him to church but nobody ever sees this little shaggy spotted dog sitting on my knee. He's learning Bible verses and he loves the happy songs. But he often falls asleep when the sermon is too long!

In more positive news, the dress rehearsal went the best it's ever gone today. I've been helping with music camp since the first year the church had it and I was a camper. That was in 5th grade, so that was about 15 years ago... So I guess that's good. Plus, my dad is sitting by me playing guitar and harmonica and turning my pages, so I can make lots of sarcastic comments to him during the program.

In root canal news, they are not nearly as traumatic as everyone says they are. Pricey, yes. Long, yes. But not painful or uncomforable. I've had worse experiences with fillings.
