A rare event indeed

I decided that it was about time to update my journal. Today there was ice and freezing rain on the road and it was slippery as all get-out. Unfortunately, the ice and stuff started between 6 and 7, and it was too late for the Superintendant to cancel or delay for the day. So, here we are, and we are getting out 2 hours early. To what end? The weather was terrible this morning, not now! And in elementary school, you have to call every single parent in your class to let them know that their child is coming home early! Luckily, I had just set up my phone tree with a parent volunteer on WEDNESDAY! so I did not have to call everyone myself!

What's exciting coming up... I am going to a conference at GMU on Feb. 15, entitled "Mini-Economy", which entails creating an economic simulation in my classroom. We'll see how that goes. I'm playing for a wedding that same afternoon, and the wedding rehearsal is at 8 PM on Valentine's Day. What is that about?!? I figured Dave wouldn't care, and he told me that he hadn't planned anything yet (it is his job this year) but 8 PM is such a crucial time!! Oh, well.

In school news, it is halfway through the year!!! Actually more than halfway, because we just finished another week. So only 17 more weeks to go, only like 13 more Mondays. :)

I finished my Word Study class with an "A" and am using it in my classroom now. Go me.

I saw Chicago with Diana last weekend, and it was REALLY good. I had seen in on Broadway about 1 1/2 years ago and remembered most of the songs, but the movie was great! I would highly recommend it.
