"you sure live in a snowy climate for groundhogs day celebrations. i wish i had, oh I do have! some goggles."
"goggles?"
"you know to watch the men and women go by in opposite directions. kind of like a coming of age thing except... well obviously it's canine."
"are you asleep?"
"what? no i'm awake. why?"
"you just said about eight things that have nothing to do with each other in one sentence"
"what?"
"[repeats]"
"huh... [slowly fog lifts] i guess i was falling asleep there."
it's really pretty strange to not be sure if someone is asleep when you're having an otherwise normal conversation with them...
