Melakwa Lake
One of my all time favorite hikes. I love to hike to this lake on a weekday when there are fewer people around and go for a swim. The quiet and beauty are unbeatable.
Unfortunately I don't have weekdays off any more so had to share the trail and lake with many people. It was still beautiful, but not quiet. Very few people ventured over to the far side of the lake, so I at least did not have to be close to them, but still had to hear and see them. I really debated about getting in the water (I prefer to swim in alpine lakes without clothes) due to the large crowds, but finally got up the courage to jump in. I kept wrapped up in my towel until the last minute and had it in close reach when I got out of the water so as not to expose myself to too many people.
One of the things I like about Melakwa lake are the memories I have of going there with other friends. I'll be back there again next year, but lots of other lakes and peaks to visit this year...
