I Have a Date!!
not a romantic date, but a date to take my Licensing exam! On March 20th I will sit for my boards, after which I will be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner.
In the mean time I have been working as a triage nurse for King County Public Heath (on the few days the clinic is open with this crazy weather) I spent last week training with the nurse who just quit. The job is much more enjoyable now that she is gone and I am on my own. She was very bitter and burned out and spent most of her time on break or gossiping.
Now that I am working without her, I am enjoying talking to the patients and consulting with the providers about the walk-ins who show up with their sore throats. I like getting the chance to see the walk-in patients and do a brief assessment, and being able to make the judgment call as to who they need to see and how urgently. I like doing the patient education when people come in freaked out because their neighbor was diagnosed with MRSA and they now want a blood test to make sure he is not sick to.
But I will be VERY excited to take my exam, get my license, and start working as an NP! Everyone is invited to come celebrate the completion of my exam on Friday March 20th!
