A little wee asteroid, somewhere between 2 and 9 metres across, is about to fizzle out in our atmosphere. Seriously, this thing will likely not survive to hit the ground. It was only discovered yesterday and didn't have time to be named anything more interesting than '2008 TC3'.
Here's JPL's plot of its orbital path. It's going to enter the atmosphere somewhere above Sudan. If you're in Africa or southern Europe, keep an eye out starting at around 02:30 GMT. Who am I kidding, if you're awake and in that part of the world, you won't be able to miss it.
There's an all-sky webcam in the Canary Islands, but it seems to have not taken any pictures since August. If anyone knows of anything similar in the relevant part of the world, please let me know.
This will be the first time anyone has predicted an Earth impact before it happened.
