Nicaragua is still amazing and beautiful. We´re having a mini dry season, for a few weeks in the middle of the rainy season, so the heat is just ridiculous. I´ve now been on route to see my volunteers twice. They´re all doing really well. I have a few vols who are having trouble with the food- some of them can´t stand the sight of rice and beans every day, three meals a day. I have some vols who just dont want to eat anymore. Personally, I like the rice and beans, but the repetitiveness does get old. My vols seem to all have really settled in with their communities and host families though and how we´re working on community based projects that the vols have created with their communities. Its a really neat process to see.

In a community yesterday a teacher wanted to talk to me. He was like ´I thought you would be a Senora, not a young woman, doing all this work and being their supervisor´it was funny. Its interesting sometimes being young and trying to get people at Save the Children and older people in the community to take you seriously.

On the 4th of july this week the buses into one of my communities wasn´t running so I had to go back to Staff house in Chinandega for the night. I went to a burger joint and then I watched ´The Princess Bride´with my program director. It was nice, definately not fireworks and bbq though.

Also big in the news here- the Nuevo Sandanista party´s canidate for president died of a heart attack last week, and so the elections that are in September seem to be certain. There´s a lot of interesting discussion about it. An interesting time to be in Nicaragua.

Then the other day on the bus on the panamerican highway I reandomly met and American peace corps volunteer. Random, but I thought it was funny.

I hope all is well, I miss everyone loads.
