My last first day of undergrad! Except for second semester first day of undergrad if you want to count that.
What a harrowing experience. First people kept walking in my geophysics class (6 students, 4 engineers, 1 physicist and me), sitting down, realizing it wasn't their class a few minutes later and then making an awkward exit. Secondly, they were like "engineers and physicists! perfect! you won't have trouble with any math". Oh no. But Charly (who was my supervisor last year) told me I should be okay, and he should know!
My second class has 7 students, including 1 with a conflict. It seemed like she was asking for the whole class to be rescheduled so it fit her schedule. I could be wrong though. Either way it isn't happening. In other news, it will be math heavy, but awesome. I will soon be able to calculate how fast different pollutants can reach you (or say, where you get your drinking water) through groundwater.
Third class is huge!!! 22 students, heavy on the lab work and we only have 10 microscopes. So they're working on splitting up the class into lab sections. I was disappointed, I loooove small classes. I have no idea who these other people are too, there are only like 8 4th year geology students!
Plus I was all pumped about the fact the only text book I need is free on the internet, but all my profs have made last minute decisions about text books, and now they all cost!
And in other news, I realized recently I am a bike ninja. Man can I weave through gridlocked streets, congested bike lanes and neighbourhoods with too many speed bumps.
Finally, my supervisor and I had some difficulty today, resulting in 6 rewrites of an abstract. I'm a bit frustrated by that (its only an abstract!!), I hope the rest of the year goes smoother.
Sorry for the blah entry, hopefully I will have something better for ya soon.
