Writing is always an unique experience. Sometimes everything flows onto the paper (or, in this digital age, keyboard or screen, depending on preference) with ease. Sometimes its like building something without the instructions, trying to figure out were to start. And then again, sometimes being able to write a few words is a victory...
I finally finished 'Revival', and I've got that warm-fuzzy feeling that comes with having it completed. There may be some editing or rewrites, but as it sits its a final draft to me. Now comes my favorite part, which is sharing it. If my friends enjoy it, I enjoy it. Its like the feeling you get when a loved one opens a gift from you, when you've plotted and planned from the gift itself to the wrapping or presentation. Its a warm fuzzy, even after having a struggle as I did with this one - too many outside distractions and things to drive my attention away, and were me down, making it difficult to write. Hence, my absence from here.
Life, otherwise, has been okay. Everyone's healthly and well, Kassi seems to be getting 1st grade down (there's another gray hair or two), and Alicia's becoming a gabberbox (and flirt, causing even more gray hairs). My office is still in disarray, although after staining the woodwork replaced around the window, I should be able to clean and rearrange it, though I may wait with my bookcases, as if work gives a decent bonus, I'm gonna build a good bookshelf.
But life recently has felt uncomfortable. Probable just my self-exile to complete my writing, or a bunch of little things adding up. I've been feeling pulled, unbalanced, demanded upon, ackward. Just in a rut, and not sure when its gonna shift again. So, in other words, ughish (yes, invented, but I'm not caring right now - you're the one whos getting into my head, you know). So, here's to beating the ugh away.
Next week is DCV, and hopefully relaxing, as I could use it. Most importantly, Rob's back in town (well, close enough). I've honestly have not heard from him for a while, which is bad on me, as I've thought of calling but haven't (sorry Rob - I am so looking to next weekend though, not that its a good excuse). So, with a little luck, I'll be reenergized and refreshed.
Otherwise, I'm catching up on my media. Saw Flags of Our Fathers tonight, and it was the Pacific version of Saving Private Ryan. Not the same movie as Saving Private Ryan, but it hits all the right cords. I recommend seeing it. As for TV, Battlestar's back (so happy on that), Heroes is rocking (worth seeing - episodes are available on NBC for free, or were for a time), Smallville's been entertaining (Green Arrow action is nice), and that is about it. Stargate is going away (moment of silence) though Atlantis has been improving greatly. As for books, I plan on reading more (I always say that), but I will be making time for 'Road of the Patriarch' from Salvatore next Tuesday. More on my media fixes later.
Well, thats it in a small nutshell. I'll try to write more again, and more frequently, but until then take care - see most of you soon....
