OKAY NEKROMANTIX TIME.
After the Howlers left the stage it took a long time to get Nekromantix set up, which really doesn't make any sense considering that most of their equipment was already out. Maybe they were just taking their sweet time?
Anyway, they opened up with Gargoyles Over Copenhagen. I don't really remember much of the setlist other than that it was awesome and that Horny in a Hearse got played at some point. Unfortunately they didn't play any of my ultimate super favourite songs (other than Horny in a Hearrse) like Life is a Grave (and I dig it), Rot in Hell, Ghoulina or Dead Girls Don't Cry, but oh well, they were still totally great. They had their new drummer, Lux with them, as unfortunately the previous drummer (with one of the more unfortunate names ever, considering what happened to him: Tony Demize) had met his untimely demise in a car crash. I'd never bothered watching live videos with her in them, so basically all I knew is that she is totally adorable.
Not only is she super fucking cute, she is ridiculously talented. I wasn't expecting her to be anywhere near as good as she was and justsjdgakg ADORABLE. She did like 5 solos. Seriously. It was amazing.
Early on in the show Kim decided to be... Kim and sat on coffinbass and started playing it with his foot. OH U, KIM. OH U. For some reason I'd actually expected Kim to be a kind of uptight guy (I have no idea why, considering Nekromantix's themes and lyrics) but he was absolutely hilarious. At one point while he was talking to people in the audience, Frank (guitarist) hit a couple notes just to test something and he told him to "shut the fuck up, I'm trying to talk to Freebird!" Just. Oh u, Kim. Speaking of Freebird, there was this guy in the audience that kept trying to get Nekromantix to play Freebird and guess what?
KIM KNOWS FREEBIRD. KIM PLAYED FREEBRID. ON COFFINBASS.
Coffinbass was right in front of us so Diana and I wound up touching it as much as we could. I don't care about any of the band members- I just want to molest that thing. It's so wonderful. Before the show I'd bought one of the best tshirts ever:
DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS.
I caught one of Lux's drum sticks when they'd finished, and earlier Diana and I had gotten a setlist from the Howlers and they said that they'd sign it for us if we went and found them after the show, so we did. We (well, mostly Diana. I think they were only talking to me because I was there, fff) totally got hit on by all of them and we're pretty sure that they had wanted us to come party with them, to which we were all "UHHHH WE HAVE WORK TOMORROW SORRY." fffff.
Mid-way through the drive back home, Diana mentioned that she was going to sneak off to McDonald's after dropping me off at home, to which I was like "UHHH HEY GUESS WHAT I AM HUNGRY TOO, LET'S GO DO DIS."
So we basically had the world's most Amurrkan night ever by going to a psychobilly show and then having Mickey D's. We sat in my driveway and pigged out on an all American disaster. The end.
This entry is really incoherent and I definitely don't possess the proper vocabulary to express how much fun I had. I'm covered in bruises (more than when I saw Dethklok, THIS IS IMPRESSIVE) but at least I no longer smell like sweat and beer.
Have some more pictures:
So apparently Kim plays coffinbass like it's a guitar too.
He did this a lot.
AAAH I WISH I'D HAD MY SLR FOR THIS SHOT. It would have actually turned out properly. He was standing right above me and noticed I was trying to take his picture, so he bent down and stuck his tongue out at me, but I couldn't get the shot fast enough so this is what I wound up with.
I am pretty sure he also plays coffinbass with his tongue.
LUX YOUR SIGNATURE IS SO CUTE.
