How do you write first person without any other characters around and keep it from turning into a friggen philisophical monologue?

Plus, I've found myself entering a pattern where every sections starts with a paragraph about the weather. Is this a bad thing? I don't know.

Laurell K. Hamilton writes her Mary Gentry and Anita Blake books in first person. She kind of treats it like they're always talking to the reader, especially when they're alone. Kinda like they're the storyteller at a campfire type of deal. That might help.

The weather thing is okay if you keep it that way consistently, as a stylistic choice, I think.

Lol! Is your character Japanese? Because it's quite common to start off diary entries in Japan with what the weather was like that day.
