Fruity

Hello Friends!

Well, I've been sinking myself into researching Fruitarianism and still working on eating as much raw food as I can. This week I stocked up on fruits and started my mornings with only fruit. I ended up having a regular vegetarian lunch and dinner, but filling up the rest of the day with fruit.

Today I'm attempting to make it an all-fruit day.

It sounds crazy, I know. But when you really look at it, it's just pure food with all the vitamins and nutrients included. The fruits and vegetables nourish the body and renew cells. It cleanses and repairs the body too.

I get so much negative feedback about going raw vegan...and I don't understand why people jump on me so much about it. I have done the research and it just makes sense. Pure foods and what we should be eating. People say, "Well, where do you get your protein?" This just proves that they are eating food without knowing what they are eating. I want to say, "Do you know how much protein you should be getting every day?" The answer is "probably not". Well, the Standard American Diet calls for more protein that what we really need. Plus, the protein we DO need every day is in the fruits and vegetables....especially the dark green leafy vegetables. So the truth is, all the nutrition we need is IN the raw foods.

I hear a lot of meat-eaters say, "Well, you need to be careful...vegetarians don't get the vitamins and minerals they need sometimes." So I wonder, how do you know that a meat-eater does? I think we are ALL a little vitamin deficient on the SAD diet. We eat too much processed food and vitamin deficient food. How much of the fresh fruits and vegetables is the average American really eating? I always look around at the grocery store to see what other people are buying. I rarely see any produce. I see cases of soda, giant bags of chips, packages of cookies and tons of milk and meat. Where is the nutrition in that?

I know that eating raw is not for everyone. I'm not trying to convert anyone to my diet either. I'm on a journey to do the best I can (and believe me, I'm not doing this successfully yet. I still have not made it through an entire day completely raw) but people like to criticize and find the faults in my plan.

I had a colon cleanse a couple of weeks ago and I was expecting some really wonderful things from it. Usually people feel so "light" and clean afterwards, but I just felt normal. I had stuff in there, but truthfully, it wasn't as bad as the average person. I think my clean eating and juicing over the past year or so has made a huge difference. The thing was, after cleansing, I felt very much the same as always....because in the last year or so, I have felt amazing! I have been needing less sleep...I'm never tired and I always have energy! I remember in my 30's, just not being able to get through the afternoon. I couldn't wait to get home and take a nap. But now I always have energy. I'm always on the go! And it is because I have improved my lifestyle by eating right and exercising.

So every morning this week, I have had a banana first thing after waking up and drinking water. After taking the kiddo to school, I come home and make something else for breakfast. Monday I had a banana and spinach smoothie. Tuesday I had an Avocolada Smoothie (pineapple, avocado, coconut water, vanilla and lime juice). Wednesday I had a strawberry/blueberry and coconut water smoothie. Today I squeezed fresh organic grapefruits and had about 8 oz of juice. It is amazing how filling that is!

This morning after leaving for work, I stopped off at Starbucks to get a green iced tea...and bought two bananas with it. So now I'm pretty full on all this fruit...and I'm not even eating as much as I'm supposed to on the fruitarian plan.

I'm just going with the flow. I will eat as much of the pure foods as I can. If I break out a little....oh well. But this is just training my body to crave the right stuff. I never thought I would be where I am now as far as nutrition goes. My mom got me a Ninja Blender for my birthday. I can't wait to get it! I have so many smoothies I want to make! But my simple, favorite...just a banana, baby spinach and ice. It's very yummy and I crave it always.

I'm off to eat some pears. ttyl
