Could it be that we pray to place ourselves in such supreme states of devistation? We adore that sort of suffering... They teach kids to pray to a miniature Jesus in the midst of dying, dangling on a chain of gold for years around thousands and millions and thousands of necks. I'm not talking about that kind of christ... Truth be told, Jesus didn't arouse me enough.
anyway we learn to wear our injuries like warprizes, but maybe that is what they are. but that sounds ridiculous, finding pride in pain...Then again, that sort of selfinflation has made quite a few humans holy.
