Fandom In The Time Of The Plague

Mar 28, 2020 11:16

I'm not dead of coronavirus. Some of you already knew that, but I figured I should probably mention it here.

In fact, I'm still going into work (because my employer has decided we're "essential" for some bullshit reason, and thus my state's stay-home order doesn't apply to us), and I don't go out much normally, so my life hasn't actually changed very much due to this thing. Except for, y'know, the stress and existential dread and stuff.

Anyway, unlike lots of folks, I haven't found myself with much in the way of extra time on my hands. But with what I do have, I'm still working on writing my
space_swap story. Which is going a bit slowly, partly because it's hard to get into the right headspace, thanks to aforementioned stress and existential dread and stuff, and partly because the thing I'm writing is, like, half right up my alley and half well outside my wheelhouse. To use a confused mixed metaphor. But it's getting there, anyway, and I'm hoping to make good progress on it this weekend.

Mostly, thanks to my latest fannish obsession, I just keep thinking that clearly Pestilence must have felt the need to stage a comeback in order to fill the vacuum left by the other Horsemen, and equally clearly what we really, really need right now is to find a scrappy eleven-year-old to kick their poxy ass. Anybody know any good candidates? And somebody call that delivery guy so we can get the flaming sword back for a minute, okay?
