Just watched today's episode.
And... Meh.
The structure did seem interesting at first, with the in media res opening and everyone being split up investigating different things. But the plot was muddled, far too compressed, unsatisfying as a solution to the "what's going on?" puzzle the beginning tries to hook us in with, and ultimately too much an example of something I find wearying in science fiction: a technobabble problem with a technobabble solution. Also, the minor characters were completely uninteresting. Mr. Let Me Tell You All My Unconvincing Psychological Problems in the Clunkiest Way Possible was especially disappointing, despite what were clearly the actor's best efforts. Although at least I'm glad he didn't die. For a number of reasons, but mostly because we've had enough of a cavalcade of pointless minor character sacrifice this season, and I say that as one of about three people who didn't actually hate "Orphan 55."
Sigh. Well, at least there were a number of cute lines and a few decent little character moments for the regulars.
But after the intriguing WTFery of last week, this one seems like kind of a waste of time.
