Some Whining, And A Cross-Posted B7 Drabble

Bah. Am all lethargic today, largely due to unavoidably disrupted sleep patterns. I should be working on my stupid Farscape story and still just can't work up the brain juice, but I at least wanted to try accomplishing something vaguely creative. So I managed to write a b7friday drabble, for the first time in ages.

The challenge was to write something based on a random entry from the TV Tropes wiki. My random trope was the Zerg Rush, defined as "A strategy whereupon, instead of defeating your opponent with a small number of strong combatants, you attempt to overwhelm your opponent with a very large number of weak, disposable combatants." I was going to write about the Andromedans, but I appear to have said about all I have to say about those guys, so instead you get a drabble-length Blake speech. Interpret its relevance to the subject matter as you will. And points to anybody who actually understands the title!

The R Strategy

The Federation wants you to believe that its power has never seriously been challenged. It wants you to believe, as you lie awake at night in fear of your life, that you are alone. It wants you to believe that discontent, and the desire to do something about that discontent, is an aberration, a rare defect of personality. Oh, and it's easy enough to believe, isn't it? Because the Federation writes the histories. The Federation shows you only its version of reality. Well, I tell you that "reality" is wrong! There have always been resisters and they have had success, more success than you know! And if every one of you sitting there thinking, "I'm only one person" were to stand up and fight, then we would win. Because we are many, and they cannot destroy us all. The only failure we have to fear is a failure of nerve.
