OK, I thought last week's Torchwood ("From out of the Rain") was kind of crappy, especially compared with the improved quality levels they're generally managing these days. But there is one thing about it that I kind of can't stop thinking about...

Spoiler ahoy! )

I'm not watching Torchwood, but I did hear about that and the first thing that popped into my mind was "Carnivale crossover!"

I haven't seen Carnivale, myself, but it is on my Netflix queue somewhere...

I thought Carnivale had a lot of interesting things going on, but I was *really* curious about how its second and final season was going to tie up its million loose ends, but most of them....just sort of drooped off at the end.

Everyone I've seen talk about that show seems to have said, basically, "S1 was great, but don't watch S2." Which, of course, makes me curious enough about it that when the time comes I'm afraid I'm going to have to watch it, just to see why I shouldn't. :)

Perhaps it depends on how seriously dead he is, as Gene Hunt might say. He may have experimented and found he recovered more quickly from some methods than others. Or else he was faking it, with the knowledge that if anything went wrong it wouldn't really matter.

As it happens, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" is half of all the Torchwood episodes I have ever seen (the first episode being the other one), and it really looked to me like Jack was playing possum precisely to give John a disagreeable surprise.
