We've now reached the point where
remix_redux participants may own up to what they did, so this is me letting the world know that the story I wrote this year was
"Leaving the Uncharted Territories (The Drunk in a Midnight Choir Remix)", based on
simplystars'
"Vaya Con Dios". I may talk about the writing of this sometime later on, as I always find it interesting to

I read this one but of course forgot to comment in the remix. I think the anonymity trips people up or something. Anyway, the last three paragraphs of this one are chilling, especially Harvey's last-ditch effort to stop the suicide. And this line, The puppet-master may have his arms on strings, but no one, not even Harvey, has ever been able to control John Crichton's mouth., it's funny and horrifying all at the same time. Anyway, great job, sorry I didn't comment earlier.

Heh. I think that's the first time anyone's guessed wrong about me. I'm oddly pleased. :) I think I can see why you thought I might have done that Doctor Who one... The subject matter does seem like my kind of thing, although I think the style is slightly different from mine.

I think it does, too. I know I was pretty bad about commenting, myself, partly because I kept thinking, "But if I comment on this one, everybody will know I didn't write it!"

I must admit, I'm rather fond of that line, myself. It may not actually be literally true, but even so... :)

Actually I feel a lot better now, since it wasn't some poor stranger who had to tackle the original. *whew* I thought maybe it might be you, but I had no clue what fandom you were writing in this year, so I really had no idea and this is a happy surprise.
I was just blown away by what you did with your remix, layering Harvey in and really considering the ramifications of all the politics, which I pretty much glossed over because it wasn't my focus at the time. But you brought the reader into all of their heads - John's, Braca's, Harvey's - and it was just a fantastic piece of work. Thank you so much!

To be honest, I was almost half-hoping I'd get a Doctor Who writer this year, just because I hadn't done any remixing in that fandom yet and kind of wanted to try it. But I also like having excuses to go back to writing Farscape, so it was all good.

Aww, thanks! I'm really glad you liked it ( ... )
